Do it for the kids | Pregnancy Photographer | Southern Utah

August 16, 2019

Mama, I get it because I've been there too. We find out we're pregnant and we are so excited, but slowly the stress starts to creep in about how much weight we are going to gain, are we going to get stretch marks, boy I don't feel good and the list goes on.

Here's the thing, most mama's opt out of having pregnancy photos taken because by the time you hit 28-35 weeks, you feel pretty good, but you don't feel good about the way you look.

I'm gonna tell you right now, you need to STOP IT! I didn't do a Pregnancy Session until I was pregnant with my fourth and final baby and boy I wish I would have done it with all of them.

Let me tell you how I was feeling before this session... I had a photog friend that wanted to do a fun session and she asked if I had any fun props or dresses. The only thing I owned was a tutu dress for mamas. I was just starting in on my photography journey + I wasn't sure where it would take me.

So, having only this skirt and her wanting to do the session that night, I scrambled to find something to wear. I dug through my closet and let me tell you it was pretty bare as far as containing anything cute that actually fit.

I had one sheer lace shirt and a wonder tee from Downeast and I was rolling with it. I put this thing on and the seams couldn't even line up straight down my sides because it was stretched TO THE MAX! I didn't have time to run to the store + I was almost done being pregnant and didn't want to.

Off I went to my session hoping and praying that it looked half decent for photos. I felt like I was ginormous, but I did it anyways second guessing myself the entire drive there.

After the session was over, I wasn't exactly sure what we got or if they were going to be any good. A few weeks later I received my images and I absolutely loved them. Yes, my belly was big, but it was carrying my baby girl inside and that was what mattered to me at that moment because at this point, I had had her and I was so grateful for that memory.

Now my youngest is almost four and she loves to see those photos. She always asks, "Mama, was that me making your belly big?" It sure was baby girl, it sure was.

You may not feel good or feel like you are looking fantastic, but get the photos anyways. You don't have to share them with anyone you don't want to, but you may be surprised at how much you end up loving them + your kids will too.

This is a tangible reminder of how much you loved that baby you worked so hard to bring into this world and your kids will be able to cherish those photos when they are expecting their babes as well as long after you are gone.

Don't do it for you, do it for them. Sometimes they need that reminder that no matter how big or uncomfortable you feel, you are willing to step out of your comfort zone to allow someone else to show you the beauty they see.

You deserve to have such a special time in your life documented beautifully to share with generations to come.
